Program
The Birdlife Group’s focus is on the well-being of local bird communities and their habitats, particularly those whose status is vulnerable or endangered such as the Hooded Plover and Glossy Black-Cockatoo.
We regularly participate in survey and monitoring activity in conjunction Birdlife Australia’s citizen science programs.
Our major contribution is seasonal monitoring of local endangered Hooded Plover nesting sites as part of Birdlife Australia’s Beach-nesting Birds Program and surveying beaches for the Biennial Hooded Plover Count. Other annual surveys address Glossy Black-Cockatoo populations and habitats, and Pelican populations and breeding activity.
Specific events and opportunities are publicised from time to time. Training opportunities are available for anyone interested in contributing to events and activities as they arise.
